Jason Holder keen to remain West Indies ODI captain

Jason Holder says he has learned a lot from West Indies' World Cup campaign and hopes to continue as one-day captain under new coach Phil Simmons.

Holder's side suffered a 143-run loss to New Zealand on Saturday to exit the tournament in the quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old seamer said he was looking forward to working with Simmons, who takes charge for next month's three-Test series with England.

"There's been criticism but I'm proud of the way I've stood up," said Holder.

"I'm not one to shy from responsibility or duck my head when things get tough."

Well Holder is not to be blamed for the poor leadership of West Indies in the world cup. It is the selectors who appointed him captain before a world cup that should be blamed. Holder is very young and I don't want to see the captaincy ruin is cricket.

well you cant learn to be a great skipper in a few months.... but we had a decent skipper.

the problem is that Jase is Sammy writ a bit Larger.  he is a better batsman than Sammy, technically correct where Sammy is all voop. but thats it. 6 feet 7 inches tall and he pisses the ball..like that old Vincentian giant Allen.  Holder shud be concerned about establishing a valid place on the side otherwise his position will always bee contentious..always be justified by the suffix, TOM.

major problem for Simmons already.. saddled immediately with a captain not at all likely to be worth his place on the team as captain bowler or batsman..or all 3 combined
