SLOW left-arm orthodox Nikita Miller says he is looking forward to the challenge of filling in for off-spinner Sunil Narine in the West Indies squad for the Cricket World Cup.

"I'm honoured and happy to be selected. I'm replacing Narine, but it is unfortunate he had to pull out because he has been great for the West Indies," the 32-year-old Miller told the Jamaica Observer.

"He will be a great loss. Hopefully, I can fill that void efficiently. Hopefully, I can do a good job for the team where required and give my best," the Jamaican bowler added.

Miller, set to depart the island tomorrow to join his regional teammates, and Sulieman Benn are the two left-arm spinners in the squad.

Narine, 26, has been doing remedial work on his bowling since being reported for having a suspected illegal action during the franchise-based Champions League Twenty20 (T20) last September.

Miller had six wickets at 15.50 with a rate of 2.32 runs per over

The World Cup is set to be hosted in Australia and New Zealand starting next month. The West Indies' opening game is against Ireland on February 16.

Other teams in Pool B are South Africa, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and United Arab Emirates.

WI squad -- Jason Holder (captain), Marlon Samuels (vice-capt), Christopher Gayle, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Darren Bravo, Jonathan Carter, Andre Russell, Denesh Ramdin, Darren Sammy, Nikita Miller, Jerome Taylor, Kemar Roach, Sulieman Benn, Sheldon Cotterell.

That is the antithetical Lloyd's way of saying he is looking to the future and recall confirmed failures.

I am happy to be proven wrong as Miller is quite a tenacious cricketer but on slow, low wickets which Australia is not.

I would not have agreed with Permaul as he, like Miller, is not a great turner of the ball but he has learnt some variation.

For me Bishoo would have been the man sent to India and South Africa or even also Permaul.

Either way, I would be most surprised is Windies progress beyond the first round....

good analysis.  I was looking at Permauls success over the last while which is good enugh to get him a recall.  but of course the spinner who turns the ball is he one to go with...and he is Bishoo

Well it is what it is and neither will get in unless someone dies, God forbid!

For me Lloyd has no consistent rationale by which he is operating.

All done, so all that is left to be said is best wishes to all the teams, including those returning home early.

I dont know what the hell LLoyd is about save by his world view... glimpses of which can be detected in who he hangs with, what he says when he speeches to them and by sundry routine actions of his,...he is an elitist, rooted to elitist position in the scheme of things.  his perspective is no where near coincidence with that of the players.  that is clear.

what also seems cleal is that relative to the elite and in dealings with them Lloyd is absolutely malleable, like a sort of jelly which is no different than shape shifter dependent on what his bosses and cohort wants of him.  such malleability can make Lloyd and anyone who deploys such personal strategy look the arse as in the Guyanese imbroglio recently when he let Ramotar sports minister and dem hang him out to dry.

additionally when he made a pigs breakfast of an attempt to become wicb chair left Lloyd looking the purity of arse we had not seen in a long time.

yet he sent the right message in those efforts..he is one of 'us'..the elite and ready, totally willing and able to do whatever is required of him in the persuit of elitist goals in the cricket. and wherever else too.  that is what Lloyd is up..looking for position at the top..and makes himself available by his malleability, to demonstarte how available he is....not to display even the implied threat he held  in the ld days as captain

Lloyd is such a non-entity now so useless that I will respond in kind. I will not even discuss that skunt anymore.  there is nutten to talk about relative to him.  we have exhausted all that kinda talk on Clyde Butts already.  no need to bother with Clyde Butts #2
