OK Folks:

* There is no question that old age has finally caught up with Shiv.

* Shiv had been getting dismissed by ordinary deliveries in South Africa(21, 4, 7, 9).

* SHIV'S FAREWELL FINAL SERIES SHOULD BE THE ENGLISH SERIES IN THE WI LATER THIS YEAR.

RE: SHIV'S 50+ TEST AVERAGE

* Shiv has currently scored 11725 runs at an average of 52.34

* If Shiv were to score ducks in his last innings in SA and in all 6 innings against England(3 tests) what would his test average be ?

ANSWER:

* Shiv's test average would be 50.75 if he scores ducks in his next 7 test innings

* So the good news is Shiv will end his career with a 50+ test average.

* The bad news is Shiv will not become the highest runs scorer in WI test history.

11,953----Lara(52.88)
11,725----Shiv----Shiv needed 228 to surpass Lara----he likely won't make it.

* Like I said, all good things come to an end.

* We are witnessing the end of an illustrious test career by an outstanding cricketer.

* Good luck to Shiv in his life after cricket----the English tour will be his final tour----hope he ends on a good note.

* WILL SHIV SURPASS LARA'S 11953 ?

* That is looking unlikely right now.

* What do you folks think ?

noooooooooooo

* I have followed Shiv's career from his very first test innings----he scored 62 versus England at Bourda back in 1994.

* Damn! That was 21 years ago.

* Did I expect Shiv to play for 21 years, score 11,725 runs at a 50+ test average ?

* Absolutely not!

* SHIV HAS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS BY MILES.

* I would like to see Shiv end his test career averaging 50+----he will be the first Guyanese batsman to average 50+ in tests.

* Kanhai, Lloyd, Kali, Freddo, Butcher, etc did not average 50 in tests.

* We recently saw Mahela Jayawardene end his test career averaging 49+----Shiv must retire before his test average falls below 50.

* Like I mentioned----if Shiv scores 7 ducks in his next 7 test innings his average would still be 50.75

* As a matter of fact, if Shiv were to score 10 ducks in his next 10 test innings his test average would still be above 50----11725/234 = 50.10

[/quote]

* He is not done yet.

* He has one more innings in SA and then he'll play 3 tests against England.

* Shiv debuted 21 years ago against England----he'll likely end against England in 2015.

* Now, if Shiv gets back his mojo and has a decent series against England, then he'll likely play 2 tests against Australia in the WI laser this year.

BOTTOM LINE:

* Shiv's long and illustrious career is coming to an end. Let's enjoy his last few tests, even if he fails.
