as far as I am concerned it really does not matter who WI have as captain is endless licks

And the statistics and ICC ranking over the last Decade supports you !
In a previous post on this or another thread I mistakenly listed Holder's List A bowling stats.
If you compare his ODI bowling stats with those of Dwayne Bravo there is no difference.
Bravo's econ rate is 5.41, avg 29.51 and SR 32.7
Holder's econ rate is 5.21, avg 28.65 and SR 32.9
Bravo is (obviously) a better batsman but he only averages 25.36 when he should be at least 30 to 35.
As far as captaincy is concerned Bravo is average.
If you were given this squad who would you name as captain (note: the keeper will be named later!):
Quote:West Indies ODI squad Jason Holder, Sulieman Benn, Carlos Brathwaite, Jonathan Carter, Sheldon Cottrell, Narsingh Deonarine, Leon Johnson, Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Jerome Taylor
Lloyd wasnt/Worrell was a uni grad. all experience suggests that high -schoolers or uni grad..you have it to lead or you don't.

Jesus Mary and Joseph : why arr you Folks stuck in a time warp ??
FYI : lloyd and worrell had the Talent in their XI.
This XI has NO talent : hence the basement dweller Ranking !

Guys we know the mediocrity of the domestic competition which gives rise to mediocre International players having to learn more on the job.
Yes they may all be mediocre but that is the reality and they will improve with more International exposure.
Given all the international exposure that Bravo has had he has not improved a great deal.
His econ is over 5 and his batting average is like 25. Pretty poor stats for someone that the WI had high hopes for.

Comparing a lad with 21 ODIs and one who has played 164 is not commensurate!
The longer you play the more realistic your numbers are!
Why not? I think Holders numbers will improve provided he is not unduly burdened with the captaincy.
We will soon find out how he handles the captaincy.

I do not think it is sensible to say it does not matter who Captains and plays, they will still get a beating!
Making the wrong decisions will make it take that longer hence the actions of H&H cabal left the team being worse off.
Seems to me a good outcome where proper industrial relations are documented and transparent to all.
Captain or not, surely Bravo, Pollard and Sammy have to feature in a best ODI team!
But the reality is that WI will get a beating no matter who the captain is. We can all hope that it will not happen but that is all it is, just hope.
We all hoped for a good performance in the first test and if anything is was worse than 10 years ago.
We all hope they will do better in the second test but that is a somewhat forlorn hope.
Don't blame the current situation on H&H - the WI were bad before H&H and they are bad after H&H. WI problems go far deeper than the 3 years that H&H were in charge. Do you really see any difference with Cameron at the helm? And it will be the same if the head is bajan, trini or mudland.
Now Bravo and Pollard IMO should be in the side - Pollard is almost worth a place based on his fielding alone.
