Sean Abbott, who delivered the bouncer which led to the death of Australia batsman Phillip Hughes last month, could return to action for New South Wales on Tuesday.
The fast bowler, 22, is included in a 12-man squad for the four-day Sheffield Shield match against Queensland at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where Hughes was struck and collapsed on 25 November.
The team will not be announced until the morning of the game, with all players having the option to withdraw if they feel they are not ready.
NSW captain Moises Henriques said: "From our point of view, we are trying to expel his name from the tragedy a little bit.
"I don't think he was any more at fault than any fast bowler who has ever bowled a bouncer in his career.
"The wicket looks fantastic, I don;t think I've ever seen a ground that looked as good as this," Michael Clarke says. "Both teams are excited to start the Test. We're going to have to bat well this morning. We're ready to go, the boys are excited, the players, the public the media, all are excited to get on with the game. What's most important and what I know my little buddy would want is going out and playing cricket. I think the boys are fully fit and looking forward to another exciting summer. India are always a tough team to beat. Nice to come to Adelaide, my stats are irrelevant. I start on zero today"
"It's a pleasure for me, my first Test hundred was on this ground. Very special for me," Kohli says, "Great way to get onto the field. I knew Phillip, he was one of the guys I spoke to more than most. He asked for my bat in a home game in Jaipur and I wish I'd given it to him. We've got more days than expected to prepare, had a couple of games where the guys have done well. Couldn't wait to get onto the field. We've got the leggie playing today, Karn Sharma." Ishant, Shami, Aaron are the other bowlers
