It is horrifying to see the crumbling of West Indies' great empire

Historically, the West Indian board has been incompetent, wasteful and above all high-handed, riddled with the mentality of the old plantocracy – the owners of sugarcane estates who treated everyone else as servants. They were given $100m to spend on the 2007 World Cup, yet they still depend on ICC loans to keep going.

West Indies never had an empire, and I use the word 'empire', to mean structure, approach and ability.


They excelled at the last for a period of time but post white control of the WICB, it appears all have been in shambles!

This so called " Empire " is ranked # 8 out of 10 in both Formats.

At this speed, they are going to go to the bottom really son. Bangladeshis are playing better cricket than them.

I do not agree as since the away NZ series, the Windies have been playing a very good brand of Cricket under Ramdin.

Yes they lostt against teh Kiwis in the return leg at home but they competed much better, the wiped away Bangladesh and made avery good start in the ODIs in India.

There were some good signs only to be undermined by the pay fiasco!

Bangladesh gets a 2- 0 TEST series Win and leapfrog  Zimbabwe and West Indies ! 

The win has moved Bangladesh off the bottom of the ICC Test rankings.

Zimbabwe occupy that position now....... :-[
