Preach Russell! Preach!

I must confess of not knowing too much about this guy Russell Brand other than he's a British comedian who once referred to George W. Bush as "that Retard President from Texas" while hosting the Grammys. ::LOL::

But this video rant of his on the Ottawa killings last week is brilliant...and funny. 8)

this type of critique that exists along with the established point of view..indeed they are intertwined the one giving rise to the tother.. is now being criminalized.  it seems critique or speech like that will soon be illegal.

No one analyzes or takes the time to critique all the BS these politicians say nowadays.  Traditionally, the analysis and critique were done by journalists.  But almost all the mainstream media outlets are owned by big corporations and as a result any analysis done by them is compromised and biased or lacks substance.

I especially loved how Brand deconstructed Harper's use of the term "Canadian soil" to convey his right wing fascist agenda that the country was under attack by these "terrorists".  Gotta protect that infertile frozen tundra from those evil terrorist at all costs Stephen. ::LOL::

He don't have to be a politician.

So politicians aren't the only people who should be watched.

Well why don't you enlighten us on what Brand or Carlin said that should make us treat them with deep suspicion and caution.

That would be a start instead of making those broad generalizations which, as we can see, can be applied to anyone.

George Carlin originally wasn't clicking as a comedian, then he crossed over to preaching civil rights and he became a successful comedian and popular afterward. Suddenly, George became the man everybody talked about. And he makes some strong points on civil rights, but I noticed that George turned around and stated that people shouldn't govern themselves which is saying that they should be dependent on leadership. Well he gave himself away in saying that because you can't have civil rights with no sense of independence, and apparently dependency is how he suddenly became popular.

So his commentary on civil rights was nothing but rhetoric people want to hear.

Yes indeed.  George Carlin's views on "Civil rights" are clearly dangerous and poisonous to young minds.

I fail to see your point here.  How in the world are the ideas of a mere comedian more dangerous than that of a politican with several hands of lobbyist in each of his pockets?  A politician who will enact laws which shape and determine our very lives.

I didn't say that it were.

I only tried to point out that people saying what we want to hear should be watched.

It don't matter whether it's a politician or not. Watch anybody saying what you want to hear.
