[/quote]  You are correct , Nuts do come into play and this has to do with texture and feel of the Bara.
Determine if the oil is hot enough by  placing the first one in the oil and then you remove it . Grab  hold of your  Nuts and  feel the bara with your other hand and if the feel and texture is the same then oil is hot enough
