Diaram  Ramjeesingh, passed away at the University Hospital of UWI on Saturday Sept.27. Diaram was from the CHS graduating class of 1961. Diaram was the eldest son of Inderjeet and Minawattie Ramjeesingh from Tain Settlement, Port  Mourant.  Kumari, myself, Sati, Amrita, Munil and Leemala are his other siblings. William Ramjeesingh and Silo Tiwari are two of his cousins that were in the same graduating class.

Diaram studied in Hungary under a PYO scholarship. There he met and married Edith. The two of them returned to Guyana for a short while before coming to Jamaica. He was a senior lecturer at the Department of Economics and Management until his retirement. He continued to live in Jamaica until his death.  Diaram was passionate about the Caribbean. He has written and published many papers  on tourism in the Caribbean and was an advisor to the Jamaican Government on Tourism

He will be cremated in Jamaica and a memorial service will be held at the University chapel. Dates are being finalised.

I don't know him, but it sounds like he had a purposeful and fulfilling life.
