[quote author=Snoopster link=topic=93015.msg590973#msg590973 date=1411943511] You know, I never got the chance to see the great man bat in his pomp. I did see him in an exhibition game a year after he retired. But this YouTube clip really brought home for me how powerful and awesome Viv Richard's strokeplay was. Just listen to the sound of that ball off his bat. Brilliant. 8)

YES SNOOPS. YOU HIT IT RIGHT THERE
THAT IS WHAT IS MISSING FROM REV'S DRY OLE' STATS...HIS OLD SPEECHLESS NUMBERS ::LOL:: ::LOL:: ::LOL::
it was to see Viv in the flesh or on the screen when you can replay to your hearts content. no guess work, no fear..just a decision: they get me or I get them. but for them to get me they have to wade through this skill of mine..real technique but additionally the physical skills of eye and body, of mind to innovate... to calculate and take the best possible risks...risks that batsmen from the rest of the cricket countries would not take under any circumstances.
that is the Viv they called the greatest regardless of stats. no one else could do it..or tried to bat like that.
and of course when you can do that confidence is an after-thought. confidence is combined in there naturally with all of that..it is not a question separate and distinct at all. confidence is a natural part of the mix that showed Viv fearless at the crease against anybody at all
