Alastair Cook said his wife Alice convinced him to remain as captain and lead England to victory over India.

Cook admits he considered his position after losing to Sri Lanka at Headingley and then to India at Lord's as England went 1-0 down in the series.

But he stayed on to secure a resounding 3-1 series win, helping banish memories of the 5-0 Ashes whitewash down under.

"Without my wife, I don't think I'd be standing here as captain," an emotional Cook told BBC Test Match Special.

Now all Alice has to do is convince Alastair that he should not be such aย  conservative Cappo and teach him to be innovative on the fieldย  Wink
