Test cricket is the fine-dining experience of Cricket

So T20 cricket is now the saviour of cricket in the region. It doesn't matter how much T20 cricket a cricketer plays, it doesn't make him a quality player. In fact, it only takes away from a batsman's concentration powers and weakens his ability and resolve to play a more defensive game when required to do so. T20 is cricket's version of fast-food - it is quick, easy and a good way to waste a couple of hours, but ultimately unedifying when a real meal is needed. Whereas Test cricket is the fine-dining experience; everything is taken in slowly and remembered fondly after all is said and done. A great Test match will be talked about decades after the players have retired. In ten years people won't be remembering matches from the CPL, the IPL or the Big Bash League. Many of the West Indies players have over-indulged and gorged themselves on the fast-food, and it's beginning to show in the other forms of cricket, especially Tests.

Well, sure, it takes much more time for the mamas boys, church ladies, and 40-year-old virgins to read their papers, digest their apple juice, and fart away their currie..  And I guess it does takes more concentration shoving forward for two hours than nailing three sixes in a row.  And, yes, they can tell their grandkids of the great Jurassic Age match of  yesteryear.  "Who won, grandpa?"  "No one."  ::LOL::

Test cricket is a victim of the times and right now in the West Indies I believe only the purist are the true watchers of the game. Test cricket needs a saviour in the same way athletics needed one and Usain Bolt came along. It needs someone who will ignite the world. Until then..T20 rules.

It sure is, but I have a feeling that in the near future we may see less of it, because most players seem to be losing interest in the format, as seen by their performances. There may be more ODI's, Twenty20's and Premier League matches as they require less of a players time and are financially more profitable. Does anyone think Test matches may fade away after a few years?
