READ THIS:

Quote:When you marry someone---in your mind you have made the perfect choice---you see perfection in your spouse----but then as the years go by----bad habits develop----and the perfection you saw in your spouse become flaws----and as you all know----flaws are hard to ignore.

QUESTION:

* How did you react when you realized your once perfect spouse had some serious flaws ?  Big Grin

* And how did your spouse react to you when he or she realized you were deeply flawed ?  ;D

Poster kwami complained that the Baboo Tree was getting boring----maybe he'll take a stab at the questions above.  ;D

One day I was takin stock and realized that from my old circle of friends , only 4 of us are still married and all the rest are divorced.
I looked at them with envy and jealousy and then asked myself .. what am I doing wrong?

you can join them

Our relationship went from happiness, to love, to doubt, to fights, to stress, to pain, to hate, to regrets, to memories that won't go away.

People won't like me for saying it but a major cause of marital problems today are men who want to remain boys, and women who want to be men.

* You see that beautiful flower garden ?

* It takes a lot of nurturing and care and commitment for that garden to remain healthy and beautiful.

* You just don't plant those flowers and leave them.

* It's the same thing with relationships/marriages.

* A beautiful/happy/loving/peaceful/serene relationship doesn't just happen.

* You have to work on it.

* If the flame goes out in a relationship----don't let it stay out----scratch a match and get it going again.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM

* After a while in any relationship/marriage----the EGO takes over.

* And nothing destroys or murders a relationship more than misguided EGO.

* Show me any relationship that has soured and I'll show you one or two people whose EGO has taken over them.

READ THIS POEM BEFORE YOU GET MARRIED

If you want something to last forever,
  you treat it differently
You shield it and protect it
You don't expose it to the elements
And you never abuse it.

You don't make it common or ordinary.
If it ever becomes tarnished
You lovingly polish it
  Until it gleams like new.

It becomes special because you have made it so.
And it grows more beautiful and more precious
  as time goes by.

=================

BOTTOM LINE:

* You get out of a relationship what you put in.

* When the EGO takes over and couples start taking each other for granted and start being abusive and stop being respectful that's when the problems start.

HERE'S AN OLD SAYING:

"A great relationship isn't when perfect couples come together. There is so such thing as a perfect couple. It's when imperfect couples learn to love and treasure each other."

The above sound nice.

BUT ONCE THE EGO TAKES OVER----that's usually the beginning of the end----that's when COMMUNICATION and COMPROMISE and COMMITMENT fly out the window----and the WAR begins.
