Selectors had nothing to do with the loss

I dunno. I know from 2013 to 2014, Gayle averages 19.4 in ODIs, Darren 32 and Simmons 36.6.

So he did NOT participate in the 4 day 2014 Regionals ????

a pre requisite to Selection for the 5 day Test ??

That's nothing new. Dwayne Smith, Gayle, all those types of players played international tests without playing or doing anything in 4 dayers. Conversely, the leading 4 day run scoreers (Dwaye and Devon) are proven incompetents.

Simmons came second in the runs in CPL, did good in IPL and outscoring the big  names in international 50 over games. Try him for tests. If not, try Leon, Ambris or Barnwell. Anybody fresh and hungry. Threaten the big names like Gayle and Bravo and Edwards with drops and they will fight for their place.

Now yuh talking !...new blood is the key .

Looks like Simmons was in the last 4 day competition and did quite well.

Browsing through these stats, I see JOhnson Charles was topping statistics in regionals during 2010. So its clear regional games have little bearing on talent. You have to go with your eyes and guts.

[size=14pt]The WI lost the Barbados test match because 3 of their top batsmen, Gayle(42 & 11), Bravo(24 & 40) and injured Shiv(15 & 25) failed with the bat. And two of the bowlers, Shillingford( 0 wkt) and Taylor(1 wkt) failed with the ball.  And let's not forget, Ramdin was scrappy behind the stumps---he should have caught Williamson on 42---and he should have stumped him later---Williamson ended up 161*[/size]

* Having said that, Otis Gibson is the leader of the team---he is the head coach---and any other sports team in the world would have fired him after 3 successive series losses against India, New Zealand and New Zealand.

* BUT THE WEST INDIES REWARDS FAILURES.

* Otis will remain head coach and may even be give a raise.

* In the meantime Kirk Edwards failed with the bat in the series---he averaged 27.40----that failure makes him a strong candidate for the captaincy after Ramdin.

* Remember---failure is rewarded by the WICB.
