Can someone please tell me why Ish Sodhi is playing?

Can someone please tell me why Ish Sodhi is playing? He offers virtually nothing with the ball, and often goes for about 100 runs with next to no wickets to his name

Ish is 21 and the art of leg spin is just that which takes time. He needs management and the fact is he takes wickets.


Had Bishoo been managed properly, he would be winning games for Windies now. He is also a very good fielder and can hold his own with the bat.


I think the Kiwis and Big Mac are managing him well.

I wasn't convinced of Sodhi either, wouldn't have picked him ahead of this match. But why are you asking this after he picked 4/96? Sure he went for 5 RPO but leggies are allowed that luxury given that they can take wickets.

He's not ready, but the guy can turn it and has potential.

Leggies mostly go for runs and a captain has to instill belief in them as well as his team.The art of leg spin is like that,you lure a batsman to play you.He will be looking for easy meat and at that instance trap him.
This guys has got the potential to perform,give him the long rope.As time goes by he will be picking up wickets.He did well previously too,so i don't see a reason why he shouldn't play..
