West Indies' off-spinner Shane Shillingford, who's currently touring New Zealand as part of the West Indies' test side, has been suspended from bowling in international cricket after an independent analysis of his bowling action found it to be illegal.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the decision tonight. The inquiry found that the 30-year-old's bowling action exceeded the 15 degrees tolerance for elbow extension and he is suspended from bowling in international cricket until he passes another analysis.

The inquiry also found that the medium-pace bowling action of team mate Marlon Samuels, who is also in the current test squad, was illegal. His off-break deliveries were found to be legal.

Both players have 14 days to appeal the decision.

Up until tonight both players were able to continue playing on the current tour as the report hadn't been released.

Shillingford bowled in the first two tests taking six wickets, including four in the second innings at Dunedin. Samuels has not bowled on the current tour.

The inquiry into their bowling actions came after Shillingford and Samuels were reported by umpires at the end of the second day's play in the Mumbai Test against India last month.

Under ICC regulations, the maximum allowance a bowler's elbow can extend is 15 degrees. Any amount over and the deliver is considered illegal.

Both bowlers had previously been reported and suspended from bowling in international cricket after their bowling actions were found to be illegal.

They were, however, allowed to resume bowling in international cricket after they underwent work on their actions as well as further testing.

Shillingford was reported in November 2010, while Samuels was reported in February 2008.

The independent analyses of Shillingford and Samuels were performed by a team at the School of Sport Science, Exercise and Health, The University of Western Australia (UWA) in Perth on 29 November.

* In 14 tests Shilly took 65 wickets----that's a remarkable 4.6 wickets per test.

* Is it goodbye Shilly hello Sunil ?

Shillingford's shame and more wood for the weak

http://www.espncricinfo.com/westindies/c...00733.html

India oh India from whence cometh all in the human realm..including bad-mindedness and taking advantage of the weak

serves the west indies right also for being weak and complicit in its own lixx.

the west indies precipitated the beating by allowing itself to lie prostrate in the path of India-BCCI..prostrate at the feet of a burgeoning giant in the frame of ancient Rome and current America...a giant who promises to be as much of a problem/nuisance for the world as those 2 previous and current ones

it probably is Rev.  but what bothers me more than anything is the behaviour of India in this..

Shane does not deserve this...and if he is reported why others have not..and why would such as Murali have had an international career of great length while Shilly has been stopped dead in his tracks?

it is India picking west indies team for it by shutting down Shillingford.  no doubt about it.

Mapoui:

* Life is not fair.

* Some people get all the breaks other don't.

* Murali pelted his way to 800 test wickets.

* And there are others on the subcontinent who pelt.

* Regarding Shillingford----he was first called for pelting by a West Indian umpire.

* And many WI cricket fans believe he is a pelter.

* I wish him well in his next career.

* What does the esteemed Chairman think ? Or is he afraid to express his viewpoint publicly ?

* Over at CC, Ryan calls Shilly a pelter----see link:

* Not sure about balloil----he was upset at the Rev for asking afro and mikesiva if they posted here on Chairman's forum:

* Rev told balloil he was disrespectful.

* Maybe there is bad blood between balloil and Chairman. ;D

Quote:Rev if you want to solicit posters ...I suggest you go knock door to door. This is not a forum to solicit posters but to discuss cricket...Thx

IF you doh want to post here that is your prerogative...but show some respect.

* The Rev was surprised---I had always made a contribution to Bally's site and assisted with the stats page on shivisgreat.com:

http://www.shivisgreat.com/stats/

* I told Bally he was being disrespectful.

* He is now ashamed to interact with the Rev---he is hiding. ;D

* Anyway I figure there is some tension or animosity between Chairman and Balloil. ;D

* Chairman's site has progressed very nicely over the years---the Rev is impressed.

RE: SUNIL NARINE

* He is a big star in the IPL---no way the dhoti bais would report him for pelting---and let's not forget----he is a fellow dhoti bai. ;D

well of course...enquiring minds and all dat.

India has interfered internally in west indies cricket by external action against a west indian player of african descent...Shillingford..seeking to clear the way for Sunil Narine as a test player

that was as clear to me from day one, as the sun is shining now outside my window

that is not good business Rev.  not good at all
