Ukraine protesters defy police, leaders reject talks with president

KIEV - Ukrainian protesters stood their ground on Wednesday after an overnight sweep by riot police and their leaders dismissed an offer of talks from a president they say must quit for favoring ties with Russia over the European Union.

Choosing the EU over Russia is choosing the lesser evil, but in both cases Ukraine is in a tough spot, and always has been, literally because of it's geography and positioning. I guess President Putin is losing his grip on his former colonies, and that's no fun.
