Tributes have been pouring in for the family of cricketer Marcus North, whose brother was killed when he was hit by a truck on the Mitchell Freeway yesterday.
Northรขโฌโขs brother Lucas was hit about 2.45pm when he stepped away from his car and into the path of traffic with a fuel can in his hand.
Witnesses told police he was rummaging in the rear of his Daihatsu Charade before pulling out a fuel can and moving into the line of traffic.
Witnesses told police the impact was unavoidable.
A police spokesperson said the driver of the 12 tonne Iveco truck had been breath-tested and alcohol had been ruled out as a factor in the crash.
The freeway was closed between Hepburn and Whitfords avenues northbound until about 7pm, causing major traffic delays.
The 40-year-old victim was taken to Joondalup Health Campus and later confirmed dead from his injuries.
