Why does Wisconsin send so many black people to jail?

18 September 2013 Last updated at 00:03 BST

For decades in the US, the incarceration rate for African Americans has been much higher than for whites, a racial disparity

the US Attorney General Eric Holder has described as "shameful".  Sad

Mr Holder unveiled a policy shift that will mean the US locks up fewer people convicted of non-violent, drugs offences.

The state that locks up the highest percentage of black men is Wisconsin.

The national average is 6.7%, but in Wisconsin it's 12.8% -

more than three percentage points higher than the second-placed state, Oklahoma.

As resident South Africans , what y'all think of the USA :

and its treatment of African Americans ?  :-\

Holder is more shameful than the wisconsin jail system..which is prolly just making profits for the private owners of wisconsin jails.

holder is ..in the federal prison system...responsible for even more black men behind jail than wisconsin  can ever be in state jails

Racial profiling still very much occurs. I still get followed around a shop.
Here the majority of offenders are black, and the majority of South Africans are black. There, US is lily white.

A friend of mine lives in Detroit US, and she is black. She says that they are developing a system similar to Apartheid's dompas system. This system was a pass that allowed non-white citizens to move between certain areas at certain times. Apparently the US system specifically targets black males.

But hey, Americans are so right they are even exempt from certain basic human rights; and freedom of equality is definitely carried out. It's just that certain citizens are more equal than others.

why go into a shop at all..save when absolutely necessary.

my response to profiling:  buy only what I have to..shop only when I have to..keep my money in my pocket or invested in something  'safe' like property,  silver and gold.

I keep in the bank only what I have to for recurrent expenditure.  and I have my metal stored safely but not in a bank's vault or safety deposit box..and I keep to myself socially.

why must I participate in the life that is organised against me!  piss on it!.

I am not captain who agrees with his enemies.  I am me and I don't agree with mine..even if captain's enemies and mine are the same people.  they set up the life so I go along where I must and opt out where I can..fighting all the time.

what's new about that..that is as old as european expansion and need for labour in their conquered lands.  all of the resulting 'western culture' is based on exploitation and social division built on the basis of black at the bottom of their pyramid.

if blacks move out the pyramid collapses..hence a permanent conspiracy to keep black people not in their places..but in place, holding up the heap

black people have fought this exploitation from the start.  black rebellion is the single most significant feature in the history of european domination of the americas.  but  inside that constant rebellion has been the most salient feature of black betrayal to its own cause..to liberate itself.

South Africa is a perfect example as is coming out now..proof of the total betrayal of generations of struggle by skunt Mandella...the ANC, the Communist Party and COSATU...the coalition of labour unions.

the only situation that went all the way through was the glorious example of Haiti.  but now Haiti lives in the betrayal by its black elites, and on-going western predation.

my point is that we must fight, create and use every opportunity to make room for ourselves always, flawlessly, without betrayal of our cause..because contrary to what the traitors think we have no alternative.

the traitors have no alternative but they think they do.  they consider life as a lone black family or traitorous small group living in rich lily white suburbs in a rich white country as proper alternative.  I see that as a proper hell on earth.

it is to support self and group.  if black people developed stores, supermarkets, businesses, that's where I would go to spend my money..keep my money in black banks, insurance companies etc.  but we don't have.. so I keep my money in my pocket for the most part, while not exposing myself to profiling and its inherent dangers.  what sense does it make to risk being rustled-up by a cop wannabe, emotionally arrested security guard, with the cops on the way just to spend your hard-earned money for the profit of the man who actually responsible for the profiling ::confused::
