Priyanka Chopra’s father Dr Ashok Chopra passes away

The actor’s dad had been critical for the last few days

Priyanka Chopra’s father Dr Ashok Chopra passed away at 12.30 pm this afternoon after fighting a long battle with cancer, diagnosed in 2005. Dr Chopra was admitted to Kokilaben hospital some days ago after his cancer recurred. He had been critically ill and was on life support  for the last few days. His wife Madhu, his son Siddharth and daughter Priyanka have constantly been by his side.

We heard that Priyanka had conducted a Mahamrityunjay puja for him. She also postponed all her shoots and rehearsals to care for her father. And on June 8, once the doctors told Priyanka and her mother that the next 48 hours were critical, the actor decided to spend all her time with her father.

We hear that this afternoon, Priyanka was next to her dad, holding his hand and chanting Gayatri Mantra for his recovery, but the doctors declared him dead. Priyanka and her brother immediately hugged their mother Madhu Chopra as tears rolled down their cheeks.
