Quote:Unfortunately, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov is incorrect in his assessment.
The reason for the Israeli government's hubristic brinksmanship here is their sure and certain belief that they have a lock on all the US's military capabilities, and our military personnel.
IF Israel goes after any Russian asset, this will be tantamount to a declaration of war against Russia; this means that the US may well be at war with Russia shortly after such an incident takes place.
Representative Charlie Rangel has proposed legislation to re-institute the draft this year; such a blowup between Russia, the US, and Israel over Syria may well see that legislation passed, and quickly.
But even if it does pass, given the current condition of the US government and military, the US government does not have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war.
And that is where the danger truly lies: if the US government realizes that they are losing in a conventional war scenario, it may go to the nuclear war option faster than the speed of light.
