During his career, the “exceptional defender” played for Queen’s Park, Parkgrove and Corinthians as well as Scotland for whom he had an impeccable record of wins. He was inducted in to the Scottish Football Hall of Fame at a dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.[/color] [color=rgb(71, 71, 71)]Watson’s award – only the second for a player from the Victorian era – was collected by Richard McBrearty, curator of the Scottish Football Museum which hosts the Hall of Fame.[/color] [color=rgb(71, 71, 71)]Watson won three caps for Scotland in the 1880s, but his remarkable story only emerged a decade ago after pictures were discovered by researchers at the Scottish Football Museum in Glasgow. He was also recognised as a sporting celebrity and had star billing, but as the 20th century progressed he was largely forgotten.”[/color] Watson, the son of a Scottish merchant, Peter Miller Watson, spent his early years in Guyana, then a British colony in South America, but was educated in Britain.
