District Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo was this morning placed on $150,000 bail on each of four charges of misconduct in public office pertaining to the March 2nd general elections.
He appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennon.
His lawyer Darren Wade told reporters that Mingo was charged with four counts of misconduct in public office during the period surrounding the March 2 polls and granted bail in the sum of $150,000 for each charge.
He has been directed by the Court to lodge his passport with the police and to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) every Friday at 9 am.

No amount of lectures will correct Granger, Harmon, et al from engaging in acts of violations. The Security Forces have to be backed up by strong enforcers of laws. Citizens of Guyana want to work and build a Guyana that each one can trust the other. Above all, peace must prevail for this to happen. The GPF is empowered to keep the peace.
