TTCB president thanks fans for turning out despite proposed boycott - chairman - 06-11-2018
Fans commuted an attempted boycott of the first Test match between Sri Lanka and the Windies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago and now, after two days of cricket, president of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board, Azim Bassarath is thanking fans for the failure.
There was no boycott on day one and day two with orchestrator, T&T commentator Andre Baptiste, saying the plans had been to show the Caribbean that the twin-island republic was not happy with the treatment of its cricketers.
Baptiste was speaking, in particular, about the non-selection of Denesh Ramdin, the second-highest scorer in this past season’s regional four-day competition behind Devon Smith.
Bassarath’s organization has also voiced concern over Ramdin’s non-selection but did not want T&T to go the route of boycotting the first Test.
"We must all support West Indies cricket," said Bassarath in an interview with T&T Newsday after yesterday’s second day.
