How the streak ended

It had to end some time. Russell Westbrook's triple-double streak is done at seven games. The Thunder guard came across a tough matchup in the Boston Celtics, who have not allowed a triple-double in 222 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NBA. But Westbrook can still take solace in the fact that he had 37 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists to lead OKC to a 99-96 win over the Celtics.

Westbrook ultimately finished four assists shy of his eighth straight triple-double. It certainly didn't help that his best spot-up shooter, Victor Oladipo, had to leave in the first half after suffering a suspected concussion and injuring his wrist in a hard fall. Dipo's absence meant more minutes for Andre Roberson and Anthony Morrow, who went a combined 4-of-15 from the field and 0-of-8 from beyond the arc. The Thunder went 3-of-21 from the 3-point line; Westbrook was 2-of-5.

With his teammates shooting blanks, Westbrook had to take matters into his own hands. He had 13 points in the fourth quarter alone, including the game-winning layup with 30 seconds left in the game. The Thunder improved to 15-9 on the season, and are 7-1 in their last eight games.
