Additionally, Ramdin’s mention of Browne’s fatal error in his debut Test and his general dismissal of the chief selector’s abilities as a player were totally absurd. His record as player has little bearing on his competence as a selector. Taken to its logical conclusion, Ramdin’s words would mean that only star players like Lara and Richards, Chanderpaul and Ambrose should be selectors. It is the same kind of fallacy that leads many to believe the great player will almost automatically become a good coach. I wonder how Ramdin feels about head coach, Phil Simmons, who averaged only 22.26 runs per innings in 26 Tests.
