England batsman Nick Compton takes 'immediate break from cricket - chairman - 06-24-2016
England batsman Nick Compton is to take an immediate break from cricket, according to his county Middlesex, after a "challenging start to the season, both physically and mentally".
Middlesex and the England & Wales Cricket Board have agreed that "the best way forward is for Compton to spend some time away from the game".
Middlesex managing director of cricket, Angus Fraser, said: "Nick sets himself very high standards and makes a huge commitment to cricket. We all believe that some time away from the game now will allow him to refresh, recharge and return to play the sort of cricket we all know he is capable of producing.

Nick Compton has his first first-class half-century for 232 days. Had some luck, but a crucial innings.

It is my opinion that Nick should be in whites at the Oval .

Nick Compton averaged 16.20 in 11 Test match innings this year with a high score of 45. His first-class average this year for Middlesex is 35.47 with 0 fifties prior to today. He has been so out of form he was forced into a break from cricket.
If Nick Compton is the answer, England might as well pack up shop and stop playing Test cricket.

These days, the health and well-being of a player is going to be taken into consideration more and more. There's been a big push as well on the mental health aspect of the players, and if this as been decided in the best interest of Compton, and he agrees with the decision, who are we to argue that it's the wrong one?
Some people might say that the best way to recover from a loss of form is to power through it and play on, but if it IS affecting him mentally then the last thing cricket needs is a player being forced to retire early through playing when not fit and able to.
