Re: Visit Hiroshima ! - Sworden - 05-10-2016 Japan in general is an amazing place to go visit, and Hiroshima is also looking better and better every day. While I think maybe going there in person might be a bit much for most Americans, at the very least they should be taught and shown not just the aftermath, but also about structures such as these. Re: Visit Hiroshima ! - obliviousme - 05-11-2016 I would love to visit this historical place! Although the place is known because of such painful events in the human race, it's still a huge part of the past era. Re: Visit Hiroshima ! - krnd - 05-11-2016 To be honest I'd still apologize for all the civilians that lost their life, and the upcoming generations that suffered for it. Re: Visit Hiroshima ! - Lavos - 05-11-2016 Obama visit to Hiroshima would give some grievance in the pride of old japanese veterans. I don't know how much the japanese people has forgiven, But nothing can be done to bring back the victims of such tragedy. In Japan, most new generations grew ignorant from Japanese role and allegiance in WW II. Re: Visit Hiroshima ! - briannagodess - 05-12-2016 I think this is about his fourth visit in Japan and it only now that he has the courage to visit Hiroshima. Of course, what happened in that place is known to all people. About thousands of lives taken, illnesses from what was left behind and the end of a war. But even so, there is a divide still, between Americans and Japanese. Not int he usual sense that they are still actively fighting now, but in the sense that Japanese people still want this apology from US officials while the American people believe that that incident in Hiroshima was justified. Anyway, I think that even though it's in the past now, it's hard not to think about it. For instance, my country had been colonised by many countries in the past. And whenever we study about the violence and pains they have brought to us, I still feel anger and frustration. But since it has already happened, what's the use in all these anger and frustration? Exactly, nothing. Of course it's best to move forward... Eventually that's what we would all do. |
