Report: Allan Donald to be named Australia's new bowling coach - dillinger10 - 04-27-2016 Quote:South Africa fast bowling great Allan Donald is set to join the Australian team as a bowling coach for the Qantas Tour of Sri Lanka and at least one series against the Proteas. http://www.cricket.com.au/news/allan-donald-bowling-coach-australia-south-africa-sri-lanka-tour-darren-lehmann/2016-04-26 Be interested to hear what DownUnda makes of this hire. A great bowler, no doubt, but I am not sure about his resume as a bowling coach to date. New Zealand's pace attack improved dramatically after he left and Bond took over. While South Africa's bowling attack was unquestionably much better under Vincent Barnes than Donald, and very few, if any, fringe players improved under Donald's tutelage. It looks like it is only a short-term hire, so probably a worthwhile gamble. Re: Report: Allan Donald to be named Australia's new bowling coach - dillinger10 - 04-28-2016 Cricket Australia have confirmed the temporary hiring of Allan Donald. He will serve as the bowling coach for the tour of Sri Lanka only. I guess the reports from yesterday that he would stay on and coach the team against South Africa were erroneous. Stuart Law has also been hired for that tour to replace Greg Blewett as the batting coach. Law makes sense as a temporary hire as he coached both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, so will have knowledge of local conditions. I wonder if in future we will see more temporary coaches hired for specific tours/tournaments?
