Drone hits British Airways plane approaching Heathrow Airport - chairman - 04-17-2016
A plane approaching Heathrow Airport is believed to have hit a drone before it landed safely, the Metropolitan Police has said.
The British Airways flight from Geneva was hit as it approached the London airport at about 12:50 BST with 132 passengers and five crew on board.
After landing, the pilot reported an object - believed to be a drone - had struck the front of the Airbus A320.
Aviation police based at Heathrow have launched an investigation.
Police said no arrests have been made.
If confirmed, it is believed to be the first incident of its kind in the UK.

While this was harmless, it's not a good look overall. Security may have to ramped up to stop this from happening again. Imagine someone with negative intent attempting this, the results could be catastrophic.

I am always interested in these stories and how we are going to react to legislate the usage of these things. It is really an interesting phenomenon when you think about it...the public gets the ability to fly these things in the air and then all sorts of privacy issues and ownership issues come into play. IT will be an interesting legal issues to keep watching as it plays out.

Yeah. Drone public usage requires some clear legislations to prevent these kind of stuff happening. Also when they are used to incur in a person privacy. A defiant device that opens a whole new world to legal issues.
