AB de Villiers: Batsman keeps South Africa Test captaincy - Skeldon - 01-29-2016
AB de Villiers will remain South Africa captain after acting as stand-in for the final two Tests against England.
The batsman, 31, took over when Hashim Amla made the shock decision to quit midway through the 2-1 series defeat.
"I am confident he will lead by example and display the brilliance and passion he is so blessed with," said Cricket South Africa chief Haroon Lorgat.
De Villiers will lead South Africa in the home series against New Zealand that starts in August.
"I have been privileged to play in several outstanding Proteas teams over the past 11 seasons," said de Villiers.
"I believe we are witnessing the emergence of another great team."

I think your right, and the South African captaincy does seem to mean more than it does in other countries for some reason. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, it's good to want to captain your country, but at the same time it brings a lot of pressure when you take it that seriously, something that Amla and up to now in the test matches, AB as found out.

You are failing to take into consideration how poor this current South African side is. Even Graeme Smith, who won 53 matches as Test match captain, couldn't do much with this team. In 2015, ABdV and Dean Elgar were the only two South African batsman with an average over 40. Their collective team batting average was a paltry 20.33 - by far and away the worst of all Test playing teams. It's hard to win matches when you are averaging 200 runs per innings.
