Thoughts on the possbility of Trump going independent - Bannon - 12-15-2015 I'm not actually worried about Trump becoming the republican front-runner for the upcoming US election. If anything, I'm more concerned about Trump staging a split and becoming an independent and taking a block of the votes with him. What worries me about this is that from what I've read up on the US elections, you need a more than 50% majority of votes in the electoral college to win. Having Trump enter as independent might split the votes in such a way that he might take votes away from either the Democrats or the Republicans preventing either of them from gaining a more than 50% majority. If that happens, congress may be tasked with choosing who the next president which is wholly controlled by the Republicans leading to the Republicans controlling who gets put on the presidential seat instead of the voting populace. I may be wrong about some of the details here so please feel free to correct me if you're more familiar with it as I'm not an American or fully versed in US politics. In any case, what are your thoughts on this and possibly any other US presidential candidate? Re: Thoughts on the possbility of Trump going independent - chairman - 12-15-2015 you dont need majority of electoral votes. all you need is 1 more vote than the other party in the electoral college Re: Thoughts on the possbility of Trump going independent - SCA - 12-15-2015 Trump will not win the nomination...and the republicans will not follow him on the independent ticket...that will be suicidal. The republicans know the best way to beat Hillary is to come together and not split the votes. |
