You do have to spare a thought for JJ but I'm sure he can understand like the rest of us why Butler is taking most of the plaudits, and also Root to a lesser degree.

The overall England performance was outstanding today and it makes me wonder why the England team are do inconsistent at times.

Thankfully the ODI team has been given a complete overhaul after the embarrassing World Cup performance. They finally have players in the team that are suited to the modern day one day game. Gone are the days where 250 was considered a great score. Infusing the team with young, aggressive cricketers has finally brought England up into the 21st century in ODI cricket and allows them, at a minimum, to be competitive.

It also helps that Pakistan are rubbish at ODIs.Pak are ranked 2 in Tests and 2 in T20s. But ODIs have them confused; they're ranked 8 or 9. They dont know what to do other than slog and graft slow runs. The tempo of ODIs befuddles them.

Re: Spare a thought for JJ Roy ! - dillinger10 - 11-21-2015

The make up of the Pakistan team is very unbalanced too. They have yet to find a genuine opening partner for Azhar Ali, Sarfraz bats too low in the order for me, and yet their tail is exceedingly long. They have a lot of bit part players. They are also, without question, the worst team running between the wickets. You can rely on Pakistan gifting at least one run-out each match through their comical running.

Re: Spare a thought for JJ Roy ! - dillinger10 - 11-23-2015

Jason Roy continues his run of good form, smashing 59 off 29 balls in a T20 match-up verses the UAE. England need all the bludgeoning help they can get against Pakistan in the T20 format.

There's no doubt that the England team was in need of a massive shake up and overhaul, as in recent years it seems to have been the same old , usual rubbish, with a few decent performances sprinkled in between.

It looks like there's a decent crop of youngsters coming through now, and hopefully they can push on now and at least try and be competitive in ALL formats of the game, not just ODI's
