Justify killing animals for food ! - ketchim - 10-30-2015

You could say that if you kill a cow you're depriving it of the rest of its existence, which could also have been a happy,

good existence, so why deprive it of that just because you want to eat some meat

when you've got other healthy, nutritious, delicious things that you could also eat ?

Re: Justify killing animals for food ! - ketchim - 10-30-2015

The counter-argument is this cow would not have existed if we had not already planned in advance that at some point

we would kill it and we would sell the meat, because obviously it costs something to rear a cow,

and we can only meet that cost if we are going to kill it.

If a cow is killed that will make it possible for another cow to come into existence who will have a good life

and if the first cow were not killed it would not be possible for the other cow to come into existence.

So yes, this cow standing in front of us will lose the rest of her life, but that loss is replaced by bringing the other cow

into existence and the other cow will also have that happy life.

Kill the excess bulls and save the heifers ...

All the bulls do is have sex, no?

Meseret  LoL  Smile  : I do not unnastan the Karma and Dharma of the Cow .

In a sense the cow could thank us for his/her existence - at least he/she has some existence rather than none  !!

So I will ask for some knowledgeable explanation by my Hindu brothers and sisters  8)

as far as I see the only morality in life is that which is dictated by survival.  it so happens that general survival requires that humanity live in consistency with the truth we prove about nature as we go.

we are carnivores and would not be here but eating meat.  and remember we got eaten as well..unless when we ded we get bun.  if not at some point we will be eaten for sure..even if it is unlikely any more for us to get  get creamed by lion, tiger or some big cat..a shark or a crawling 'Macawell' or some such monster

we never used to ask these questions about meat.  these questions come purely from modern, comfortable life and the moralities associated with the religions. maybe we eat too much meat...and that may be a moral question. eating meat may not be.

but if the animals can turn this thing around guess who will be on their tables, all dressed up and seasoned, cherry in mouth and trussed-up in 'roast fowl' position....like a padnah ah mine deh used to call 'Roast'  because deh walked in on his girl friend in a an awful roast fowl with a man who was not he.

pheeeeeeeeee!  allyuh think it sorf! :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile :Smile

anyhow just now we have have transporter technology to make replicators so we can order up meats from the replicator straight up without have to slaughter anything.

wouldn't that be nice.  I could order up by Chinese BBQ duck with no fear...for some of which I fee for right now Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue
