Topless Femen protestors disrupt a Muslim conference on women. - spectre96 - 09-14-2015

This weekend Val-d’Oise, France, hosted the third “Salon Musulman” (Muslim Salon). This year, the series of lectures and demonstrations was dedicated to the theme of women.

The conference was to feature a talk by controversial Muslim leaders Mehdi Kabir and Nader Abu Anas, on the theme of “Women’s valuation in Islam.”

On Saturday evening, during the imams’ speech, two members of feminist protest group Femen took to the stage shouting, “Nobody enslaves me, nobody owns me, I’m my own prophet.”

According to the AFP, the women walked onstage after the two imams began debating whether or not you should hit your wife.
However, sources reveal the two women interrupted as Medhi Kabi was asking Muslims “to follow the example of the Prophet, who never slapped his wife.” Audio of this can be heard in the link.

I think protesting is alright, but people need to be aware of their actions and also do so in a fair manner and not in a way where, others may get offended and also need to respect the people who they are against. In this case it seems it was about treating women right and not about making them slaves in the house or servants, which is mostly done, in this culture and hope we hear what happened to the two topless women. I think that the manner the women acted was not nice and may get disciplined, and also hope they don't do this in the future as it can lead to more problems.

It’s ok to raise your voice, but in this way? In a Muslim Salon? Just because they’re feminist it doesn’t mean they have to get naked in front of people, feminist or not women have to respect themselves. This woman is not a feminist she’s just stupid and this was totally disrespectful. I’m wondering how everyone reacted there, do you know what happened next?

The protesters were topless? Even though they are protesting, I think they should have certain boundaries and at least show some decency. Why would there be a debate about hitting women in the first place? Unless if the woman hit you first and you were defending yourself.
