[/quote] India's record away from home has been beyond dismal in recent years. Over the last 5 years, they have won just 3 matches, lost 17 and drawn 9. The only team with a worse won/loss ratio over this period is Zimbabwe, who are winless in 6 away matches. India's last series win away from home came against West Indies in June 2011. Odds are strongly in Sri Lanka's favour to win this series, especially after such a soul destroying win in the first Test. If Sri Lanka were to win this series, India would drop to 7th in the rankings. If England are able to avoid losing the fifth Test against Australia, I believe they would jump up to 2nd in the rankings with Australia dropping to third. His career average of 35.84 is thanks in large part to the 288 runs he scored against West Indies in 2013. Since then, he has scored just 348 runs in 15 innings at an average of 24.85, managing just two fifties. To put his ineffeciency into context, since 2014 there have been 45 top order batsman (1-6) that have batted at least 15 times, the only two batsman with a lower average are Pujara (24.15) and Thirimanne (17.52). If Murali Vijay doesn't recover from his hamstring injury and Pujara were to come into the team to replace him, the three worst top order batsman will all appear in the second Test.
