Re: Bairstow In : Ballance Out ! - dillinger10 - 07-22-2015 Sadly, Ketch wasn't making a joke as much as a very astute observation. Ballance stays so deep in his crease which makes him vulnerable to anything swinging full and straight. Unorthodox styles can work, Steve Smith is the modern-day poster child for this, however, Ballance's desire to feel bat on ball compounds his vulnerability. He is susceptible to being bowled or given out lbw due to batting so deep in his crease, while also a candidate for being caught behind due to his uncertainty of the off-stump. Pace bowling, especially the left-armers, have done him in. Boult, Johnson and Starc have really exposed his fatal flaw this summer. His average against pace bowling is 28.38 and dips further to 13.20 against left-armers. The talent is there, it just needs to be harnessed. Hopefully he can go back to county cricket, take some corrective actions and get back in the runs. Re: Bairstow In : Ballance Out ! - ketchim - 07-22-2015 bala, it happened ...just look at his slip cordon and caught behind style OUT ! His need "to feel bat on ball" when he should "leave" is his achilles heel . dillinger , I agree his Coach need to address this at the County games 8) Re: Bairstow In : Ballance Out ! - bala24 - 07-22-2015 [quote author=ketchim link=topic=99003.msg647591#msg647591 date=1437577150] bala, it happened ...just look at his slip cordon and caught behind style OUT !
