Dukes vs. Kookaburra - ketchim - 04-26-2015 It is evident that our Bowlers cannot OUT the Opposition ! So lets change Ball ! 8) Re: BOWLERS - ketchim - 04-26-2015 Opiss had introduced the English DUKE. Should we start using the 4 piece KOOKABURRA ??? Re: BOWL - ketchim - 04-26-2015 http://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/dukes-balls-for-ashes-practice-20121023-283gw.html The Dukes cricket ball behaves differently from the Kookaburra !! The seams on Dukes are hand-stitched, and they tend to swing for longer than Kookaburra balls, though movement is heavily influenced by pitch and weather conditions ![]() Re: BOWL - chairman - 04-26-2015 use duke Re: BOWL - ketchim - 04-26-2015
use duke
BUT ...it not working for us : FIX things that NOT working : I refuse to believe that Gabriel, a faster bowler than Jimmeh : CANNOT get the SAME result ...
The famous West Indian fast bowlers of the 1980s propelled Dukes balls, often at the batsman’s head, but when Roger Harper was the West Indies coach he switched to Kookaburras so they would not be unfamiliar when his team toured Australia and South Africa. The switch back to Dukes, to try to revive West Indian fast bowling, was made four years ago. But the seams were found to split on surfaces which were often rolled and hard-baked mud. So a ball was made specifically for West Indian usage, using seams of stronger thread and more lacquer, which costs WICB £55 a time. The type of ball being used in this series is the British Cricket Balls Grade 1 County (Dukes). Equipped with this missile, James Anderson set up and cleaned up Kraigg Brathwaite !!!
