Well it is a well deserved move up the rankings by New Zealand. The only place West Indies have going is down the rankings. Bangladesh just needs to have a good tournament and they will be on their way to displacing the West Indies.

West Indies are closer to Sri Lanka in fourth place in the standings than Bangladesh are to West Indies. 18 points is a huge gap. After the World Cup, Bangladesh have an ODI series against South Africa. I can't see Bangladesh making up 18 points up any time soon.

The individual rankings are looking interesting, especially when the top two bowlers are off-spinners who aren't at the world cup due to suspect actions. Interesting to see Imran Tahir at number 4, giving South Africa the two top ranked batsmen as well as the two top ranked bowlers who are actually there
