Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - boquiesse - 01-03-2015 Yes but it must be put into context. By themselves the stats prove nothing. Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - TRINIDADDY - 01-03-2015 Quote:Yes but it must be put into context. Yes, we have no away test wins vs non-minnow teams since 2011. Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - boquiesse - 01-03-2015 Do we even have home wins against the top 5? Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - TRINIDADDY - 01-03-2015 Not really. Since January of 2011... 1. We beat Pakistan in one test in Guyana 2. We drew some games vs India 3. We beat New Zealand in 2014 in one test, but lost that series 4. We won two tests vs New Zealand in 2013 to win a series. 5. We beat New Zealand twice in 2012 to win a series. 6. We faced England in a 3 test series in 2012. We drew one game and lost 2. 7. We faced Australia in a 3 test series in 2012. We drew one game and lost 2. In 2010... 1. We drew 1 game vs South Africa at home, and lost 2 games In 2009... 1. We had a 5 test series vs England at home. We won one test and drew 4 to win the series. 2. Everything else that year was draw, loss or minnow wins In 2008... 1. We won one test vs Sri Lanka at home to draw a two test series. Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - boquiesse - 01-03-2015 That's some sorry reading. I remember that Pakistan test - dem mudlanders prepared a terrible pitch and Sammy was man of the match. I remember that Pakistan test - dem mudlanders prepared a terrible pitch and Sammy was man of the match.
By that reasoning one can say that the Zimbabweans prepared a terrible pitch when the Paks lost. Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - boquiesse - 01-03-2015 No. The scores in that match were: WI 226 and 152 Pakistan 160 and 178. In Pak 1st innings Sammy took 2 for 16 in 12 overs. In Pak 2nd innings Sammy took 5 for 29 in 17 overs. 20 of the 40 wickets fell to LBW and I think it broke the test record for most LBWs but let me check Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - boquiesse - 01-03-2015 Yep that match takes first spot for the most LBWs in a test. Re: Team wins outside Asia: WI ranked above India and SL - boquiesse - 01-03-2015 Cozier say: Quote:In this case, statistics did not lie: they revealed the defects of a pitch as hard and dry as a board, which led to a record 20 lbw dismissals, allowed just a solitary individual half- century and kept the overall run-rate to 2.4 an over. After this test it took awhile before anyone dared question Sammy's inclusion in the test side. |
