ICC clarifies Steven Smith’s catch in Abu Dhabi ODI - chairman - 10-13-2014

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has sought to clarify the ruling relating to Law 41.8 that resulted in the dismissal of Pakistan batsman Fawad Alam, who was caught by Australia’s Steven Smith during the third One-Day International (ODI) in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Given the recent trend of fielders moving in anticipation after a batsman had moved to play a shot, the ICC consulted with the MCC and advised the umpires to use the following interpretation: “As long as the movement of a close catching fielder is in response to the striker’s actions (the shot he/she is about to play or shaping to play), then movement is permitted before the ball reaches the striker. On the day, if umpires believe any form of significant movement is unfair (in an attempt to deceive the batsman), then the Law still applies”.

too ambiguous !

A Batsman takes his Guard , Look around and PINPOINT fielder's position .

With this picture in his head , he knows where he CANNOT play an aerial stroke.

Fawad Alam looked around and had a picture of a VACANT Leg slip ..

He had a snap shot of Steve Smith in 1st slip .

The Bowler deliver , he steers it down the SUPPOSED vacant Leg side....

ONLY to find that while he was concentrating on the Bowler's DELIVERY .

Steve Smith had ALTERED his Field position.

Umpire should call NO ball  >Sad

OR Batsmen should have Eyes in the back of their HEAD :

to see whom ALTER their positions behind the stumps..

AFTER the Batsman had looked around the Field and pinpointed them...

I understand what happened here, but can anyone post up a video to clarify this better for me.?
From what i understood, this should be called a no ball, because then everyone can keep changing positions and the batsmen can easily be fooled right.
