Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - chairman - 10-03-2014 Johan Botha, the former South Africa offspinner and current South Australia player, has suggested that the ICC increase the degree of permitted flex, possibly to around 20-25 degrees, following its crackdown on suspect bowling actions. Botha said easing the limits would allow spinners with different actions to compete better in a game that is dominated by batsmen. Since June this year, ICC's match officials have reported six bowlers for suspect actions and Pakistan offspinner Saeed Ajmal is among those who have been banned from bowling after their actions were deemed illegal during testing. In the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, four bowlers, including West Indian offspinner Sunil Narine, have been reported for suspect actions Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - mapoui - 10-03-2014 nonsense! > >![]() there is a game for those who want to flex as much as deh want. its called baseball at which they make lots more money than in cricket if they catch on if Botha wants to flex he shud go play baseball. they play dat in Oz big time I don't see anyone in baseball trying to change pitchers to round armers. I never did see that in all the 150 years or so of baseball > > >
Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - mapoui - 10-03-2014 I am not going to see no cricket with bowlers pelting down the place. I cant imagine a more ridiculous spectacle than that. where did all these chuckers come from? Cricket is supposed to be played in a certain way..there are rules and there is no good reason to change the one of bowling round arm to bent arm. the only reason would be that lots of bowlers are chucking these days and that is not a good enough reason to change the rule. let them go learn to bowl toss the bowlers not the rule. deh will all come back round arm if the ICC does not bend, jettisons the stupid 15 degree Murali compromise and stand firm. no chuckers need apply! Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - ketchim - 10-04-2014
toss the bowlers not the rule.
Well said ! 8) Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - dillinger10 - 10-04-2014 Ramiz Raja's sentiments calling for the ICC to consider raising the current limit of 15 degrees to "18 to 20 degrees" to legalise the doosra. Quote:"I have always felt that the most exciting delivery that has taken the playing fields is the doosra," Ramiz said. "You have got to make room somehow to legalise it, even if you have to tweak the limit to 18 or 20 degrees because: a) it is not threatening the batsman physically, b) it is a great ball to describe and you need skills to play it." Ramiz Raja comes to Ajmal's defense Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - ketchim - 10-04-2014 There is always Baseball : as Mapoui point out 8) Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - dillinger10 - 10-04-2014 Ramiz's defense of Ajmal seems silly to me. So because he bowls with a 40 degree arm angle and it would be "impossible" for him to remake his action to comply with the laws of the game, the rules should be amended? Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - bala24 - 10-05-2014 So Botha wants the BCCI to legalize chucking..?? How thoughtful of him.If he really want to mend the laws and flew more, baseball is the option.. Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - Rowe992 - 10-05-2014 Well I don't know about 20-25 degrees but something needs to be done to fix this problem now. Maybe they should only allow that level of elbow extension in t20 cricket because it is primarily responsible for the recent reports of suspect actions. T20 puts a lot of pressure on bowlers because the game was designed for batsmen. Re: Allow spinners to flex elbow by 20-25 degrees: Botha - mapoui - 10-05-2014 there is no dam problem! or else if there is then it is chukkers trying to force themselves on the game. toss them that is all. the rule is clear...or at least was once clear... before they started farting around with it for Muralitharan toss the Muralitharan compromise and return to the original round arm rule. no chuckers period!!!! stand fast with no posibility of compromise and you will see how fast the chuckers will disappear..to baseball or some other activity they find more welcoming. or learn to bowl their 'mystery' balls with round arms/straight arms a bunch of chukkers appear in cricket and WE have a problem. WE have no damm problem save the lil extra work it requires to tell them to GET LOST!!!!! > > >![]() > >![]() >
