A bowler may look like a pelter to one official and look clean to another. How do you resolve that. I think the 15-degree rule is reasonable and objective. The issue is how to enforce it. I hear there will soon be technology available to call illegal actions as they occur. That should solve the problem.

They have match referees and other guys who just sit there and eat all the foodies.There can't be a technology,but a review of all the balls bowled is a big plus if implemented.
Moreover the angle just varies for each bowler and it is going to be tough to monitor it live.

Maaaaan, when you watch a guy bowl you KNOW when he pelts. It's as obvious and in your faces as Dolly Parton's boobs.

In the old days Umps just simply called it and in almost all cases they were right. This 15 degrees non-sense was implement to legitimized Murali's action. But its effect (unintended or otherwise) is the creation of all these fcuking pelters parading as "mystery spinners". Time to get rid of the 15 degree rule and all these damn pelters with it. 8)

Then why did one umpire call Murali and others didn't. Why do some players go through some games unscathed and get reported in others. With the 15-degree rule you can't just rely on the naked eye. That's why there has been so much confusion.
And the rule became necessary when they found that even Michael Holding, who seemed to have as pure an action as any, had some amount of bend.

Murli was called BEFORE the implementation of the 15 degree rule. The 15 degree rule was the end result of the ICC's efforts to protect him from being called for throwing after the events that took place in Australia. Look it up.
As for Mikey bending the elbow. You'll convince me when you post a link or any evidence to back it up.

Miky himself admitted this. Dennis Lillee bent his arm too, Allan Donald, Angus Fraser. The only bowler the researchers found to be totally clean was Ramnaresh Sarwan.
Miky was a member of the committee that settled on the 15-degree rule. As was Fraser and Gavaskar, Tim May and others.
