Norway agency warns of Chinese risk in Amaila project - chairman - 08-20-2014 The Norwegian government agency through which funds are channelled to Guyana for protecting its forests has warned of the risk to Norway’s reputation if the controversial Amaila Falls Hydropower Project (AFHP) is funded by the Chinese and has urged Oslo to send a high-level team here to discuss these and other issues. Even as it described Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) as being a “stand-alone more-or-less ad hoc collection of projects,†the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) raised issues such as Chinese logging companies in Guyana not engaging in value-added activities. Re: Norway agency warns of Chinese risk in Amaila project - brian - 08-20-2014 These chinese and indian companies are not creating any jobs in Guyana, they are not paying any taxes worth writing about. These companies are based in India and China and they will take all that wealth when they sell the high value lumber back to India and China. When they have ravished the land and the resources here they will move on to their next feeding ground.
