U.S. stocks advanced Monday, boosted by news of corporate deal-making and a rally in European shares.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 119 points, or 0.7%, to 16783 in early trading. The S&P 500 index advanced 13 points, or 0.7%, to 1968. The Nasdaq Composite Index tacked on 32 points, or 0.7%, to 4497.
