TV contracts dictate daytime scheduling of Caribbean matches - chairman - 07-13-2014 The staging of its matches - with games starting around the time the temperature went down in the evenings, when fans were free of their nine-to-five jobs - guaranteed sellout crowds at all six venues last year. The lights meshed perfectly with the carnival atmosphere and its slogan, "the biggest party in sport". Calypso rhythms, fireworks and dancing girls were added to the mix, making it a rousing success. It'll have a different feel over the coming six weeks of the second season. With a new contract with BT Sport television channels in England to be considered, the tournament has made the adjustment. Re: TV contracts dictate daytime scheduling of Caribbean matches - elcosteno - 07-13-2014 Last season the CPL attendances were solid since fans could come to games after work. No such luck this season Re: TV contracts dictate daytime scheduling of Caribbean matches - ali - 07-13-2014 Very sad to see that after last years buzz and success the incredible atmosphere of mostly night games and the day games on weekends with double headers including the home island playing the schedule for this years CPL is many neutral grounds at ridiculous times not just mid day but mid day on work days is just sad. How do they expect to create any kind of atmosphere or context ? to cater completely to foreign TV but the TV product will be poor without the full atmosphere and context of home crowds Re: TV contracts dictate daytime scheduling of Caribbean matches - ketchim - 07-13-2014 A local 9pm close of play would be 1 or 2 in the morning in England; an hour later in South Africa.
