USA steps up drug enforcement agencies in Guyana - May102014 - 07-01-2014
Okay, I would like to know the opinions on this topic. Being an American my view is biased and based on my own experiences with policemen and it doesn't represent all perspectives of individuals around the world. So I came across an article of the United States government planning to set up a Drug Enforcement Agency in Guyana. Ambassador Brent Hardt stated that local officers in Guyana will be screen to work alongside DEA agents. The American government has stated that Guyana is a major transshipment port of drugs coming to America. It's all apart of the War On Drugs.
Sighs, so here is my opinion. I can't fully support the US involvement in this issue because of my concerns of innocent civilians being arrested or worse under DEA agents presence. Too much corruption and tragedy happen with the War on Drugs program here in America and it hasn't alleviated the problem at all. I'm not saying that DEA shouldn't tackle the problem. It is their job to fix the issue, but the inside corruption and money these agents accumulate themselves - along with secret deals made with certain drug cartels - has me giving this situation a side eye. Either way, I suppose the issue must be tackle because in some areas around the world (the USA included) drug addiction, sales, and their connection to devastation in families is a huge problem.

I can't say that Guyana is the only way that drugs is coming into America, and even though the USA says this they might want to take a look at other places, and other Caribbean countries and and their other borders.I simply think they wanted someone to blame for their rising drug problems and Guyana was the closest and so they went with it.
