Black Caps bracing for spin onslaught in Windies Tests - ali - 05-25-2014 CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand, CMC—New Zealand departed for the Caribbean, bracing for a barrage of spin in their upcoming three-Test series. Though having produced the finest fast bowlers in the history of the game, tracks in the West Indies have become slow and low, allowing spinners to dominate in recent times. Pointing to the spin trio of Sunil Narine, Shane Shillingford and Sulieman Benn, Black Caps coach Mike Hesson said it was important his side prepared for the threat of a concentrated spin attack. “All I can go by is recent history and it's turned and bounced (in the Caribbean). The wicket blocks are bare in photos we’ve seen, so that's pretty much what we expect to get,†Hesson said. Re: Black Caps bracing for spin onslaught in Windies Tests - Mail - 05-25-2014 I think the Kiwis are carrying some momentum and their team has been performing more consistently. With a new Captain and the opportunity to field the best possible team available in home conditions, even the observer will fanch Windies. However I feel Samuels has had his day. His last 3 series has seen returns of 39,25 and 20 in 7 test matches, his best being against Zim. In fact his home record is a paltry 28 in 19 tests and I cannot imagine that improving. After 51 tests and an average of 36.....is it not time up for MS? Re: Black Caps bracing for spin onslaught in Windies Tests - Kyle - 05-25-2014 Wow he averages nearly 40? That's more than I'd have thought. But again, Zimbabwe I guess. Fair point regarding his home average though. I'm of the opinion that he can be ditched for good too. Simmons can replace him maybe? |
