At a time when West Indies cricket is going through inexorable turmoil,shiv is one of those legends who has served close to two decades is the one windies need to go to,but the irate fact is that he has been asked to retire from it.He is one of their premier batsman in tests and his style can well be utilized well.That fighting quality and the value for his wicket is still the hallmark for the Caribbean.He was dropped from ODIs, but his record in that format and the team’s weak batting line-up suggests that he is still needed at this level. And ‘stats’ must be criteria when judging a batsman.
