then again what is the real picture of Trinidad from lets say 1956 when Eric Williams came to power and currently...what was its population like by number and composition by the ethnic numbers.  here is an approximation:  1957..population 860 thousand...50-60% African..30-35% Indo..white, syrian, mixed, chinese remainder.

by 2013 we have had the adjustments that reflect an Indo majority, a black reduction as % of population, virtual elimination of chinese as a population factor and strong growth of mixed population. 

now no one interfered with Indo growth in Trinidad. if that happened in Guyana it did not happen in Trinidad.  there is no way there would have been such strong Indo growth had black people form such a position of strenght stood in the way of Indo progress.  that is my argument here.  black people were not looking out for self and group and instead made it easy for others to progress while we stood in our own way as we do globally.

let ketchim tell you who the big contractors are, and for how long..the really big landowners and most landowners and how that came to be..why black people traditionally had no land and Indos were given land..given not bought or earned over black people, who deserved such assistance far more than any other group

west indian cricket almost all the way through was a white mens creation, and who were responsible for its development with black people as players, as part of an independence struggle for equal representation for all.  on the field ordinary black west indians made cricket what it is.  the black elites left the white man in charge when political independence was achieved and took over when local white people as a political force waned out.  but it is the black elites with their colonialist orientation took over and represent really a continuation of the old planter dispensation.

Indos as a constituent part of west indies cricket..when they really began to get involved as a part of the population... really began by about 1970. 

no one ever stopped Indos from playing.  that was their choice. when they played if they were good enough they were selected...especially in Trinidad.  by the late 1940s at times there were as many 4-5 indos in Trinidad teams at the same time there were no blacks in it at all.  but Indos have not produced as many great players as afros and have not competed for place at the wicb...save in the case of Chetram Singh. 

and as we can see being elected o anything at the wicb is a function of nationalist representation at the board itself.

Trinidad and Guyana  send reps to the board and an Indo president/CEO is becoming ever likely as time passes.

but the wicb is not about race but elitist/bureaucratic control of the game..as it is the same question for control of all of west indian society..indeed the central issue of social control on the day globally....of global society
